What a fascinating insight! I myself have often wondered if genetic inbreeding in her family was partly responsible for her poor obstetrical outcomes.

This is fascinating as it's the first time I've heard of Katherine possibly having the Hapsburg jaw, which her nephew, Emperor Charles V, apparently had to judge from his portraits. Is there any evidence to suggest Mary Tudor may have inherited this facial feature?

Thanks, Tom! No, Mary I didn't have prognathism. Eleanor of Austria, Katherine of Aragon's niece, had prognathism (as evidenced by eye-witness reports & portraits) but her daughter didn't inherit that trait either.

I didn't think so, as it doesn't appear in any of her surviving portraits, and I've never read any accounts that suggest she had such an appearance.
