When I saw this on social media I picked up the book from a few years ago by Stephen Edwards on the different portraits of Jane Grey and others identified as her over the years as I remembered this portrait was in there. It was painted c 1550 and was sketched c 1680s as Jane Grey according to the book information but it was not identified as Jane Grey. I agree with you, your identification makes more sense.
Mary Fiennes is how she is described previously.

Hi, here is J.S. Edward's article where he identifies the sitter as Mary Fiennes, Baroness Dacre: https://somegreymatter.com/a-life-framed-in-portraits-an-early-portrait-of-mary-nevill-fiennes-lady-dacre/
Thank you.
Or is it Margaret Tudor? 🕵🏼♀️🖼️ https://blog.historicenvironment.scot/2024/03/margaret-tudor-my-lady-the-kings-defiant-mother/
I feel like J.S. Edwards's identification is very compelling. I don't see how the new research proves that this is Jane Grey.
